PS5X Compatibility List: PS5 Games That Run on Xbox Series X|S
PS5 emulation on Xbox is weeks old, and the confirmed list is short by design: this page tracks what actually runs on public PS5X builds, what merely boots, and what is only rumor — with the performance and audio caveats attached to each entry.
Current state: 4 games run on public PS5X builds — GEX Trilogy, Hellboy: Web of Wyrd, Marvel Cosmic Invasion, and Quake II (2023 remaster, the only one with audio, at roughly 25–45 FPS). One first-party title (Astro’s Playroom) boots to its menu without being playable. Everything else — including every major PS5 exclusive — does not run yet. The list moves with the project’s release cadence, which has been close to daily.
The list
| Game | Status | Performance | Audio | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GEX Trilogy | Runs | Playable in shown footage | No | Retro platformer collection. One of the first titles demonstrated on the port. |
| Hellboy: Web of Wyrd | Runs | Playable in shown footage | No | Stylized roguelite with a modest rendering budget — typical of what the current build handles. |
| Marvel Cosmic Invasion | Runs | Playable in shown footage | No | Pixel-art beat 'em up; light scene complexity suits the early D3D12 renderer. |
| Quake II (2023 remaster) | Runs | ~25–45 FPS, dips below 20 at moments; visible input latency | Yes | The showcase title. The only confirmed game producing audio on current builds. |
| Astro's Playroom | Boots only | Reaches the title/menu sequence | — | Shown booting on video; not playable. A significant signal, since it is a first-party PS5 pack-in. |
| God of War III Remastered | Unconfirmed | Seen in a separate video only | — | PS4 title, not PS5. The project has not confirmed the public build runs it — treat as unproven. |
What the statuses mean
- Runs — the game has been shown playable on a public build, start-of-game footage at minimum. It does not guarantee the game is completable end to end.
- Boots only — the emulator starts the game and reaches menus or a title sequence, but gameplay is not usable.
- Unconfirmed — seen in a video or claim that the project has not verified against the public build. We list these so you do not get surprised, not as promises.
Why the list looks like this
Every confirmed title so far is a technically light game: retro collections, pixel-art and stylized titles with small asset footprints. That is not a coincidence or cherry-picking — it is how emulation develops. The PS5X port translates Kyty’s Vulkan renderer to Direct3D 12, and each new rendering feature a game needs (depth handling, texture formats, 64-bit atomics, video decoding) has to be individually implemented. The project’s recent build notes read exactly like that work log: batches of D3D12 cases, shader-translation fixes, GPU memory savings, faster .zar asset loading. Light games simply need fewer of those pieces before they hold together.
For a sense of trajectory, look at the upstream PC version of Kyty: it ran Demon’s Souls at 1–2 FPS in early September 2026 and at 40–50 FPS by the end of the same month. The Xbox port cannot inherit those wins directly — every upstream fix must be re-implemented for D3D12 — but it shows how quickly targeted work moves a specific game from “boots” to “playable”.
How this list is maintained
Entries are compiled from the KytyPS5 project’s public release notes and the developer’s demonstration videos, cross-checked against press coverage. We do not count private claims, and we date every verification pass — this page was last checked on October 19, 2026, against builds published October 18–19. When a new build or a newly confirmed title appears, this page updates and the change gets dated at the top. If you see a claim we are missing, tell us with a source.
What is not on the list (yet)
No demanding PS5 exclusive runs: no God of War Ragnarök, no Spider-Man 2, no Demon’s Souls remake on Xbox, no Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. A PS5-style home menu video shows a library listing larger titles — Crash Bandicoot 4 and Gran Turismo among them — but appearing in a menu is not running. Treat any source claiming full PS5 compatibility on Xbox today as clickbait; the four games above are the honest frontier, and the honest frontier is moving.
